威尼斯二日游 IN VENICE, THINKING OF KASHGAR

venice (written on a city map) one yard of scents, with blossoms filled/ one passage through the midday sun/ one house, one water, one whole town/ one thousand years become one day/ they know it here, you'll die quite soon/ and everyone will come and say/ what you may claim, and what remains/ and then they're ready to depart/ cause what we are stays in this world/ what we have done, what we have heard/ one scent, one stone, one sound, one plan/ a plea that says please understand

venedig (auf einem stadtplan notiert) ein hof im duft, mit blüten voll/ ein durchgang in der mittagszeit/ ein haus, ein wasser, eine stadt als wären 1000 jahr ein tag/ man weiss es hier, man stirbt recht bald und alle kommen, es zu sehen/ was bleibt, und was man noch erwirbt/ dann wollen sie auch wieder gehen/ denn was wir sind, bleibt in der welt/ was wir getan, was wir geschaut/ ein duft, ein stein, ein laut, ein plan/ und eine bitte um verstehen

they've painted our houses grey

they had been shabby, used and white
now they are smooth and fresh and grey
they have installed new windows too
and all the sills are fresh and red
next year there are olympic games
they've painted many houses now
they've torn down many neighbourhoods
they've built a brand new capital
inside they wouldn't do too much
there is a lot that's left inside
inside the country all around
next year there are olympic games
they will be fresh and smooth and new

sie streichen unsre haeuser grau
jetzt sind sie frisch und glatt und grau
sie waren abgenutzt und weiss
und sind jetzt glatt und frisch und grau
man baut auch neue fenster ein
und streicht die fensterbretter rot
denn naechstes jahr sind doch die spiele
da streicht man viele haeuser an
da reisst man viele haeuser ab
da baut man viele haeuser neu
nur innen geht es nicht so leicht
da hat sich manches angesammelt
im inneren des ganzen landes
und spiele sind nicht jedes jahr.
