不要問我從哪里來

bitte frag nicht woher ich komm

bitte frag nicht woher ich komm
meine heimat ist weit weg

warum streif ich umher
streif ich umher
streif umher

fuer die voegel hoch am himmel
fuer die baeche tief in den bergen
fuer die wiesen in der weite
streif ich umher
streif umher

und fuer, und fuer
den olivenbaum im traum
olivenbaum

bitte frag nicht woher ich komm
meine heimat
ist weit weg
warum streif ich weit
streif ich weit weg

fuer den, fuer den
den olivenbaum im traum
olivenbaum

bitte frag nicht woher ich komm
meine heimat ist weit weg
warum streif ich umher
streif ich umher
streif umher

Annabelle

Now gather round and let me tell
The tale of Danny Wise:
And how his sweet wife Annabelle
Did suck out both his eyes.

And if I tell the story true
And if I tell it clear
There's not a mortal one of you
Won't shriek in mortal fear.

She gathered kindle in the wood
She gathered twigs and cones
To cook a soup of oxen blood
And out of certain bones.

He met her when the sun was low
His horse had lost his way.
And he was blind, and couldn't know
The evening from the day.

The village folk, they called him wise
He saw through people's hearts.
But Annabelle lived in disguise
She came from other parts.

Maybe a demon out of hell
A spirit from a grave.
At first she treated him quite well
Good nourishment she gave.

She gave him shelter for the night
He stayed for many days.
Poor Danny's wisdom couldn't fight
Against her gentle ways.

Her family had died, she said
And she was all alone.
But she had vegetables and bread
Her food was never gone.

He stayed until she married him
She married many men.
She pickled them and kept them fresh
And cooked them in her den.

She liked his head, she liked his brain
She liked his tender eyes
They had been blind, but then again
They tasted like his thighs

Or maybe even softer still
He gave her quite a thrill
His other parts, she kept them well
And later ate her fill.

This is not really how he died
But we have heard her name
And people like the way I've lied
It helps us with our game.

heute steig ich auf den turm
wu und chu sind hier geschieden

keine zeile von zuhause
alt und krank in einem boot
rosse schnauben noch im norden
oben lehne ich und heul

夜色

night is full

the night is full of poetry
there is an 18th-storey hole
or maybe it is 22
it proudly grows across the street
the night is full of poetry
i like the windows at the front
the big ones, and the frames are white
and all the rest is scaffolding
the night is full of poetry
i like it when the air grows cold
and when the city starts to calm
i like the lull between the cars
the night is full of poetry
there is an 18th-storey house
or maybe it is 22
across from us in our yard
i like it somehow, actually
the night is full of poetry
we are the night, the listening
we are the bus at intervals
where people often let us sit

new paint

they've painted our houses grey
now they are fresh and smooth and grey
they had been shabby, used and white
now they are smooth and fresh and grey
they have installed new windows too
and all the sills are fresh and red
next year there are olympic games
they've painted many houses now
they've torn down many neighbourhoods
they've built a brand new capital
inside they wouldn't do too much
there is a lot that's left inside
inside the country all around
next year there are olympic games
they will be fresh and smooth and new

chairman, he makes all the chairs
don't tell me you didn't know

what is chairlady about?
chairlady will make them too

問候致敬

greetings

the moon has many ups and downs
the moon is everywhere the same
it's hard to see him where we live
or maybe it's not all that hard
we had a balcony before
a terrace high up on the roof
not all that high just six floors up
the roof was on the seventh floor
i stepped outside and saw the moon
you stepped outside and felt the air
it wasn't roses everywhere
they have some roses in the yard
i have to go out now and see
i have to look him up again
you don't know if he's getting full
you don't know if he's getting thin
the clouds are going pretty fast
i don't know where we'll be next year

招呼

gruesse

in beijing war da ein balkon
ich trat hinaus und gruesste dich
ich trat hinaus und sah hinauf
ich stieg hinaus und sah mich um
ich gruesste alles was dort wohnt
die tuerme und auch den gestank
die vogelschwaerme in der frueh
die weite und die grosse nacht
den himmel und bei uns den hof
den kuehlen und den hellen stern
den nahen und den gruenen mond
wir waren dort recht eingewoehnt

moon is round again tonight

it must be the grainy air

moon is up
- for Matthias Claudius

the moon is up and shining
the moon is up and shining
the moon is up and shining bright.

the moon eats up and drinks up
the moon eats up and drinks up
the moon eats up and drinks up, too.

the moon sleeps well and sleeps in
the moon sleeps well and sleeps in
the moon sleeps well and may sleep in.
